Giovanni’s Screen Play
INT. ROME - DAY
The sun shines down on the ancient city of Rome, its buildings and monuments steeped in history. The streets are busy with people going about their daily lives. Among them is GIOVANNI, a handsome Italian man in his early 30s. He walks with purpose, his eyes fixed ahead. He turns a corner and comes to a stop at a small cafe. He nods to the proprietor, who greets him warmly, and takes a seat at a table. He pulls out a notebook and a pen, and begins to write. We can't see what he's writing, but he seems deep in thought, his brow furrowed in concentration. He pauses occasionally to take a sip of coffee or to look around the busy cafe. As he writes, the sound of the city fades away and we hear a voiceover.
GIOVANNI (V.O.)
I was born and raised in Rome, the eternal city. It's a place that's full of life, of energy. It's a place that I love. But it's also a place that can be very lonely. I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who's really living. Everyone else just seems to be going through the motions. They're not really living, they're just existing. I don't want to just exist. I want to live. I want to experience everything that life has to offer. I don't want to miss out on anything. That's why I've decided to write a screenplay. I want to write about my life, about my city. I want to write about the things that I love and the things that I hate. I want to write about the people I've met and the places I've been. I want to write about the things that make me laugh and the things that make me cry. I want to write about my dreams and my fears. I want to write about everything that makes me who I am. And I want to share it with the world. I want to write a screenplay that will make people feel something. I want to write a screenplay that will make people laugh and cry and think and dream. I want to write a screenplay that will make people fall in love with Rome, just like I have. FADE OUT.
